Tracklist

01 – Findlay – YOUR SISTER

With a vocal delivery so similar to Micachu & The Shapes and a scuzzy rock vibe Queens of the Stone Age would be proud of, it would take a very resilient soul not to be swept away by “Your Sister” by Findlay. For more on Findlay see http://www.findlaymusic.com/

02 – The Ramona Flowers – Dismantle and Rebuild (D_R_U_G_S Remix)

This D_R_U_G_S remix of “Dismantle and Rebuild” by The Ramona Flowers has epic and rave plastered all over it. And true to the title, the song is dismantled and rebuilt from vocal up and stripped back again to finish on a hushed vocal. For more on The Ramona Flowers see http://www.theramonaflowers.com/

03 – Believers – Finder

A gradual slow burner that only goes full speed after well over a minute, “Finder” by Believers sounds like the cosmic union of [[David Byrne]] and Graceland era [[Paul Simon]]. Just brilliant \o/ For more on Believers see http://music.believersbelievers.com/

04 – Van She – Jamaica (Mad Professor Dub)

Australian electro-pop outfit Van She get the royal dub treatment from the UK’s [[Mad Professor]] here on their summer single “Jamaica”. It must have been impossible for them not to get the original dubbed up considering the song is an ode to the small island that has given us Dub amongst other musical forms and the song is the better for it. 05 – Main Attrakionz – Cloud Body

Atmospheric Hip-Hop? WTF! Oh yeah! Only Grown Folk could produce something like this; the Orb meets A Tribe Called Quest in the 21st Century in the form of Main Attrakionz. “Cloud Body” is from the forthcoming long player. 06 – Miguel Featuring Puff Daddy & French Montana – Adorn (DJ Tedsmooth Remix)

“Always Adore You” is the opening with a knowing nod to [[Marvin Gaye]]. Man O Man does Miguel’s voice just give you a chill and make the hairs on your neck stand to attention. Then Sean “ Puff Daddy” Combs who is a massive Marvin Gaye fan interjects with a beat and rap that takes you back to the mid 1990’s and [[The Notorious B.I.G.]] aka Biggie Smalls. “Adorn” is simply soul sensation. 08 – Night Terrors of 1927 – Watch The World Go Dark

Yes I am on a 1980’s buzz this week and why not when bands like Night Terrors of 1927 produce such electro-pop gems as “Watch The World Go Dark”. This is such a wonderfully crafted song that is carries you away on a wave of nostalgia. They also get my choice as best named band of the week. For more on the fantastically named Night Terrors of 1927 see http://www.nightterrorsof1927.com/

09 – Gypsy & The Cat – Bloom

I just want to step into the tardis and go back to 1987 to dance all night to [[the Cure]] as soon as I hear “Bloom” by Gypsy & The Cat. This is just one of the most infectious songs I have heard in a long time. I dare you not to dance to this. I can’t wait for their long player “The Late Blue” which will get a worldwide release in early 2013. For more see http://gypsyandthecat.com/

10 – Melt Yourself Down – We Are Enough

Hailing from the UK, Melt Yourself Down described themselves as advent grade jazz? Really. More in the vein of [[the B-52’s]] and [[Violent Femmes]] “Blister In The Sun”; this song “We Are Enough” is a beautiful manic assault. To find out more about these mental miscreants Melt Yourself Down see http://meltyourselfdown.bandcamp.com/

11 – Bat For Lashes – All Your Gold (Hercules and the Love Affair Remix)

House! House Music! No it’s not handbags on the dance floor or back combed hair and shoulder pads. This is real majestic up lifting soulful house that snaps and flows stunningly for almost 6 minutes. Bat For Lashes (Natasha Khan’s) vocal was made for house and Hercules and the Love Affair are the finest architects of post-modern house. So, what do you get? A grandiose decadent mansion of a house tune. For more on Bat For Lashes see http://www.batforlashes.com/
