Plague Tapes #124

Paddy’s day, is now forever linked in my mind with the pandemic.  Here we are two years after that sole individual railed against the lack of craic, naked in Temple Bar at the dawning of St. Patricks day 2020, and we are ‘back to normal’.  Yet, the endemic nature of covid means that it’s coming for us all.  I am awaiting to surrender to it, when it comes knocking on my door.  An hour of music, starting off with 45’s off vinyl right up to Decal, and then we take it home with some beats. Thank you for listening, thank you for the support and encouragement to keep doing this, and telling us that it gave you some truth and comfort in this  plague.  Thanks really to Andrew who kept on top of all that was emerging from the battle against this virus.

News: Andrew illustrates for us just how ‘impossible’ it will be to avoid Covid now.  Prevallence is suspected to be well above what is being reported[80,000], because of the old trick of not measuring what you don’t want to know about.  Only helath care workers and the over 55’s are getting PCR testing.   Andrew guesses that we might have anything from 300,000 – 500,000 cases out there, maybe 10% of the population in the last weeks.  Hospitalisation is at the second higest ever, with 1060, in it now, and it was 2040 in Jan 2021.  Andrew discusses the tennis ball threory – about avoiding covid, and he reflects back on the journey that we went on with this pandemic.  Roll the credits, and we’ll fill you in on what we went onto do with the rest of our lives.
