Plague Tapes #53 see’s Dr. Groove obsess a little bit about the rain, and that features in a lot of the tunes. We have a little section where we recommend you give yourself 20 minutes of ‘me time’ and just earth yourself with the sounds coming from your spearkers, whether they be small headphones or speakers in your gaff as you look out at the rain running down your windows.
News with Andrew, where we give you all the latest information from the press conferences. We are seeing internationally where countries are beginning to go into a lock down again. C-19 is still infectious, and it will punish people who are blase in their approach towards it. We clarify what is the postion on international travel, it is recommended that people do not travel aboard. We see the results of the light regulation / no enforcement around Pubs opening up as restaurants. We talk about rumours of tourist sightings around the country. We note that over 500,000 peopel have downloaded the tracing app. We talk about the fact that 17% of cases are now due to tavel. We examine why 35% of people who an contact traced do not put themselves forward for testing. And we wait and ask that you continue to do all the right things, in terms of wearing masks, and washing hands, and maintaining physical distance, because that will help whilst we wait.
Finally we play a song from Ennio Morricone, who recently passed. The song was for Sacco & Vanzetti
Here’s to you, Nicola and Bart
Rest forever here in our hearts
The last and final moment is yours
That agony is your triumph
“If it had not been for these things, I might have lived out my life talking at street corners to scorning men. I might have died, unmarked, unknown, a failure. Now we are not a failure. This is our career and our triumph. Never in our full life we could have hoped to do such work for tolerance, for justice, for man’s understanding of man as we now do by accident. Our words—our lives—our pains—nothing! The taking of our lives—lives of a good shoemaker and a poor fish peddler—all! That last moment belongs to us—that agony is our triumph.”
– Bartolomeo Vanzetti
