Plague Tapes #120

I like the word interstitial and I liked to use it.  There are times when I just want to play music and would like that it was not tied to the news, but the news is important in a pandemic and we are thankful to have Andrew deliver it to us – as alarming as it is.  But I just think it’s a funny time of the year – as Beth Gibbons sings about it on one of these tracks.

News:  Andrew delivers the news in a sober fashion, without recourse to alarm, which is what the numbers cause in me. 13,000 cases the last time we could rely on the figures, and the positivity of 49.7% – means that one in two have the Covid, and it means that we are missing loads of it.  61,000 cases this week. Over 230,000 cases since the beginning of November.  The guess from Andrew about what realistic day figures for cases should be for today, is between 15,000 to 18,000.  You want an analogy, well people talk about the hockey stick, in terms of where we are going on the charts.  Or I like to think off it like a ski jump, where shot up at the end, and take off.

In the meantime, no word from NPHET, it is carry on like it is a normal holiday season  This is a problem that is not going away and only going in the wrong direction, and we hear nothing.  We know of the chain of command and we can only hope that emergency meetings are taking place, and that the various sub-committeess are meeting, and that swift action will be taken.  That is our hope – and it is not based on experience, it is based on hope.

Love & Rage,

Dr. Groove
