Plague Tapes #49 comes to you the day after Bloomsday. So no going on the lash pretending that we’d all read the great Ulysses, and instead we bring you an hours worth of wonderful music, starting with Truth and ending with Baby Huey asking when this change is going to come.
News with Andrew talks about where R might be, the floated idea, like a turd in a bowl, of the pubs opening up to serving nine euro meals and making sure everyones out the door after 90 minutes, and the new government appear to be mirroring the Tories in the UK, with brining down the 2 meter requirement. Business and politics, hand in infected glove.

News with Andrew: Cases running below 15> but we hit a palteau, R is probably creeping back up to near 1.0, and the opening up has been speeded up, so that pubs that were supposed to open up at the end of august are opening up on the 29th, as restaurants, and they may even be getting rid of the 2 meter distancing, and that sounds like it could all go very badly wrong.

Well it has been a hell of a run, in the 100 days of this plague, our almost daily show has managed to nearly clock up 50. We will be scaling this back to two shows a week, so expect #PT#48 at the end of this week. What did you do in the plague ? Dr. Groove and Andrew did public service broadcasting. This show has news and details of the math and what we cover is below in the tracklisting.
As befits this show, the music that precedes the news is absolutely all over the place, from Can to Duke Ellington to Mogwai, amazing hip hop from Jaguar Skills mix, Link below, and we finish with a message from Mike James Kirkland – Hang On In There. I guess that’s what we did, we did not give in, we hung on in there, and now we emerge from lockdown knowing that we flattened the curve, what are WE going to do next, what are WE going to change next?

Dr. Groove is back with the friday night mix, which is all music from the colossus known to the world as Miles. Miles Davis – invented cool, the first track we hear is from his album The Birth of Cool, which goes back to 1948. We only really got up to 1969/70 – so we have to come back and revisit the bad MOFO known as Miles Davis for his wild 70’s stuff.
We also have the news from Andrew as we were addressed by the leader today, telling us how lockdown is going to continue until the 18th when we are going to be able to see maybe 4 other folk!
