The Big Itch Club Totally Rocks 60 14th November

This week I am joined by Luke, the gaffer and driving force behind such fantastic Dublin musical spectacles as The Retro Revival Club and The Big Itch Club and one of a number of people involved in the Big Itch EP.  Luke is a big garage fan and an encyclopedia of information on the scene past and present so there is no better way to start the show than with a bit of the Sonics.  Luke picks the next two with crackers from Man or Astroman and the Woggles.  Next up its Billy Childish and His Famous Headcoats and then Oblivians.  Luke is back in charge for the Mummies and uncharacteristic one from The Untamed Youth.  Then it’s one of Retro regular Graham Day’s bands The Solarflares and Memphis’ own Reigning Sound.  Next up it’s a couple of fairly weird ones from Smiley Joe Omohundro and then Three Stoned Men, The whole reason for getting Luke in this week was because of the EP launch this weekend so a #1’s tune off their first demo is next and then a new one from Hunx and his Punx.  Luke is back on the decks with one from another one of this weekend’s bands, The September Girls and then it’s the mystery band.  (If you can name the band gimme a shout and you’ll win a free EP at the launch!)  The Big Itch and the Retro are great for supporting local bands and musicians and two of the best local garage bands have to be The Revellions and The Urges.  Luke takes it old school next with Chubby Checker and then Jules Blattner before Retro regulars The Len Price 3 get a look in.  Last up its Northern Irish stonkin two piece The Bonnevilles.  Tune in tonight, go to the gig on Saturday and go to pretty much anything Luke puts on.  Band like working with him, punters like the gigs he puts on and the man clearly loves music.
